Old School is the best

I bought the washer and matching dryer after months of research. I was looking for an old timey washer that I could open the lid on when it was washing like in the old days. I did do the trick for bypassing the lid lock. The light in the dryer shocked me with it's brightness and I love the front lint catcher. The washer is amazing. It cleans well and the way it washes impresses me. It is exactly what I was looking for and I had no problem spending the money getting what I wanted. I would definitely buy again and again and again. I just wish I had the room for the commercial triple loader so that I wouldn't have to go to the laundry mat when I wash comforters, but they are Speed Queen too and I know its worth it.

I recently purchased both a Speed Queen washer and dryer. I am so very pleased with both units. I like the options presented for operation and the ability to adjust to the needs of each load. Not the quality of our 13 yr old Speed Queen dryer

Purchased dryer Sept 30, 2024. Noticed a strange smell when dryer is cold but the smell goes away when dryer heats up & fortunately does not transfer to laundry. In approx. 2 weeks, the dryer started making a strange noise. We contacted the dealer we purchased dryer from on Oct. 17. The repairman came out Oct. 31. He discovered one of the drum rollers was making the noise & would need to be replaced. The part had to be ordered & we are waiting for the part to be replaced. The only reason we had to purchase a new dryer was because the timer switch on old dryer burned up & Speed Queen no longer provides that timer switch. This was very disappointing that we could not get this part. Our 13 yr old Speed Queen dryer was better quality & cost half the price. We pray once this part is replaced, we don't have anymore issues with this dryer.

Faulty thermostat?

My dryer turned off without a signal. It just stopped. I smelled what seemed to be hot plastic. I opened the door to check the clothes. They were still wet. I tried to restart it without luck. I left the front door open for 10 minutes. Evidently it needed to cool down, as it started after that. I then immediately called Fred's Appliance. They will schedule a service call. I paid ALOT of money for the set. And, I better not be charged for a service call.

Love, love, loving it !!! I was originally unsure about the cost, especially after having a supposedly top shelf Maytag set failing at multiple points soon after the warranty ran out and the costs to repair to equal the cost of a new set. Being extremely frustrated with appliance build and quality of these top shelf machines I wasn't sure what to do. So being familiar the the tank like construction of the laundry mat machines I figured I'd take the risk and invest in the Speed Queen line of products. From honesty of the salesman to the delivery and setup and my first few loads I have never been happier with an appliance purchase! I actually enjoy doing the laundry now. It's a non-issue and quick experience. They actually clean and dry the clothes perfectly the first time with minimal machine setting! They just plain WORK !!! So far, worth the cost just in the peace of mind alone...for me anyways!

The dial for setting the temperature is not good. I can put it on less dry and the clothes will be wet at the end of the cycle and another time the dryer will run for two and a half hours set on less dry. The problem is with the dial not a good design. I've always had Speed Queen appliances and this is the first one I have been disappointed in. I would tell all my friends you need to buy Speed Queen might cost a little more but it's worth the extra money. And when I would go to the store the sales person would say they could cut the price on other brands but not on Speed Queen I would say don't care I want Speed Queen. I would have a hard time recommending this dryer to anyone and that's sad because I know the dryer is made well. The dial is the problem. I do at least 9 loads a week because I have two grandkids living with us and that tells you why I need a Speed Queen.

Samsung and Maytag both broke. I just want to do laundry with a machine that cleans and doesn't break. I went to the laundry mat for 6 weeks deciding to spend the extra money and glad I did. It is loud but I assume its because the parts are metal not plastic.

Bought a TC5 and DC5 06 August 2024 On or about 08 September the dryer stopped drying. We have called local service providers; three that are listed on the speed queen website local to El Paso, TX. Of the three that are listed only 1 will provide warranty service to the speed queen machines. We have waited over 2 weeks for service; only to be rescheduled because the technician did not make it to our residence before 5. Update Tec came out Monday 30 Sep, said the timer was bad Todays Update, part will not arrive until 15 October. Then most likely a week to schedule service tech to install. Bought 06 August 2024 Stopped working 8 Sep Technician came out today, installed a new timer and heating element. Said the motor is locked up and will have to schedule another appointment for him to document it to send to speed queen This is as of 17 October Total ownership days 72 days Non working dryer 39 days and counting Please help, your military family that just wants dry clothes

This new dryer makes more noises than the broken one it replaced. I expected this to last forever. Sadly it makes a terrible noise since day one and speed queen customer support email told me it's normal due to a "drum seem". It is so loud.

I would love to give this product 5 stars but I can't. The timer on the dryer could be improved so much so that it did not turn off the machine for several hours beyond the time it was set for. I called the customer service center to report the issue. The call center had an extremely long wait time, so my call was placed in a queue for a callback. I did not get a call back that day or the next or ever. Needless to say, I am very disappointed in the service. I have Speed Queen washer and it is great. The dryer does not live up to the quality expected from Speed Queen.

"Commercial" doesn't guarantee quality

$1,000 for an analog commercial dryer with nothing digital and already 2 service calls because the thing will start up on its own and or never shut off! Last time I woke up at midnight with the dryer running - for 4+ hours! Clothes smelled slightly burned and too hot to hold - can you "fire hazard!" Tech replaced the timer and now says the idler is bad? Makes a strange noise it didn't make before so….will be waiting yet again on parts and chasing down the scheduler to actually make sure he schedules the repair appointment. Wanted to love it - had high hopes - not sure it's worth the money.

Great dryer except….

When we were at our local showroom, they had a returned dryer that had to have the timer replaced. We opted to not purchase the discounted dryer and opt for a brand new washer and dryer. After delivery The timer on our new dryer didn't seem very accurate, no definite clicks between Selections. After quick Google search, others have inquired about this problem. Went back to our local dealer, and verified that the new / different Unit they had on display had a timer that had physical audible, clicks between selections. Seams as though my timer is faulty and I will be having the service department come out and replace it. Haven't yet asked speed queen directly about this issue, but if yours does the same, you might.

I purchased a new SQ dryer to complement my new SQ washer although my previous dryer was still functioning well. When installed, the new dryer protrudes about 3" from the new washer because according to the installer, there is no provision for the exhaust tubing at the rear of the dryer. I did not have this problem with my existing dryer.

Our Son gifted us with this new Speed Queen washer and dryer. What a blessing. It is amazing how quite they are and the load size is so much larger than our old units. [FYI: It only cost 10% more to go First Class]

I love this washer with an agitator. And I love the knobs. Not the new computerized buttons.Really cleans clothes. It is not a quiet washer but it's worth the money.
